Aloha, Rochester

I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to post this until now, but I wanted to take a moment to say goodbye to everyone in my Rochester Green family. In case you haven't heard, I recently was hired to teach in a Charter School in Hawaii. I'm currently in Portland, Oregon visiting family, but I'm making my way to Maui where I start my new job on July 25th.

I just want to make sure that I told everyone connected to the Greens in Rochester just how important and special my time with you has been. In fact, it was my work with all of you that has prepared me for this adventure in Maui.

All of the long hours we've spent in meetings, going door-to-door, campaigning at the Public Market, getting ignored by the news media, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

For everyone in Rochester who considers herself/himself a progressive, I implore you to continue the fight. Yes, our town is a bit reactionary and there isn't much in terms of vision or leadership, but this is the exact reason we need to continue to push to make Rochester what it can be.

Rochester is my home town and will always have a special place in my heart and so will all of you. Please feel free to keep in touch with me. I've started a blog for friends and family to know what I'm up to. Check out http://daveinmaui.blogspot.com
