Weekly Update - October 6th

Hello Everyone! We’re posting a couple of days early due to the event coming up.

First of all, the Green Party would like to thank everyone who came out to see Rosa Clemente’s talk at RIT on Saturday. There were great questions during the Q&A and everyone left with things to ponder. Rosa really enjoyed her time here and we’re working on bringing her back in the Spring to do something in the city. Stay tuned.

Don’t forget, tomorrow (Wed), Funk The War II on Wednesday, October 7th. This is the anniversary of the US invasion of Afghanistan and we will be "celebrating" it with a demonstation at Washington Square Park at 4:30pm. Obama’s press secretary just announced that all options concerning Afghanistan are on the table EXCEPT withdrawl. Let’s put that other option on the table. Dress as outrageously as you like and bring any noise/music making instrument you wish.

We’re going to be working on registering people Green – the ONLY party to oppose both wars from the start.

Our next monthly meeting is, Monday, October 12th at 7pm in the meeting room of the GVGA at 875 E. Main Street, 5th floor. We'll be discussing upcoming elections at local and state levels with fellow Greens. Elections to be covered include this November's, where numerous candidates have been cross-endorsed as well as upoming elections in 2010. Scheduled to be there are City School Board Candidates Howard Eagle and Chris Edes as well as City Council Candidate Harry Davis. We just confirmed Jo Meleca, who is running for County Legislature in Greece. Alex White, who intended to run for Mayor in the city, but whose petitions were invalidated by a Democratic challenge will also be in attendance.
