17th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act

Thursday, July 26th, marks the 17th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. To commemorate the signing of our Civil Rights law, the Center for Disability Rights has arranged a series of events.

On Thursday July 26th, CDR will have a wheelchair rugby demonstration featuring paralympic medalist Mark Zupan. That evening Mark will be the featured speaker at our formal dinner. For more information on these two events, please visit www.rochestercdr.org/ada_dinner.html. Tickets for the dinner are sold out! You can still sign up for the rugby demonstration by calling Mary Ann Price at (585) 546-7510.

Also on Thursday the 26th, Chris Hilderbrant will be appearing on the Bob Smith radio show on WXXI 1370 AM. They will be discussing the ADA, what it means, what progress has been made and what barriers remain. Please tune in and call in with your thoughts.

Rounding out the week we will be showing the film "Murderball". Murderball features Mark Zupan and is a documentary of Mark and his teammates, their personal stories and the team's efforts to win gold in the 2004 paralympic games. For information on location, time and tickets please call Liz at (585) 546-7510.

We hope you can join us in one or more of these events!
