The first 4th of July in 40 years without a Voting Rights Act !!?
Forty years later, reauthorization of that hard-fought right is being blocked by a few House Republicans from southern states. Most of these obstructionists want to lift a provision that requires close federal oversight of nine states with histories of discrimination.
