March Focus: Organized Labor

For the month of March, we will be focusing our educational activities on the role that organized labor has had in strengthening workers' rights in our communities.  We invite you to join us for the following events:

Documentary: "Live Nude Girls Unite!"
March 7th, 6:30pm
the Little Theatre
240 East Ave, Rochester
https://www.facebook.com/events/241149469305052/

"This first person documentary follows Julia Query, lesbian/stand-up comedian/peepshow-stripper, and daughter of a feminist activist, on her raucous journey to help organize the only union of strippers in the United States. Shot on a variety of formats, Live Nude Girls Unite! weaves backstage and dancing footage with labor organizing, street protests, stand-up comedy and comic-book style "animation" making an intelligent and dramatic cutting-edge film."

Road to the White House
The 2012 race to the White House comes to Rochester this month with a visit by Green Party presidential candidate, Dr. Jill Stein.  After a weekend at the Left Forum in Manhattan, Dr. Stein will be making an upstate tour with her visit to Rochester being on March 22nd.  Look out for more details as events are finalized, and check out Dr. Stein's website for more information about the campaign.

Also running for the Green Party's presidential nomination are comedian actor Roseanne Barr and California Green activist, Dr. Kent Mesplay.

Occupy Your Government
Do you know somebody in Brockport who might be interested in running for local office as a Green?  The village is holding elections in June for 2 trustees and is one of the only local municipalities to be holding elections this year.  The petitioning period for Congressional elections will also be starting soon.  Contact us for more information.
